Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is a floating market located in the Damnoen Saduak District, located about 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Bangkok. It is often considered the most famous floating market for both foreign and domestic tourists.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market consists of a maze of narrow khlongs (canals), and can be navigated by boat. Female traders, often wearing traditional mo-hom apparel (blue farmer shirt) with ngob (wide-brimmed straw hats) use sampans (small wooden boats) to sell their wares, often produce that comes directly from farms. These boats are often full of vegetables and fruits. Canoe cooks can be found preparing and selling boat noodles. The market is often the busiest in the morning around 7 am to 9 am, and is active until noon.
The market has been featured in several films. A canal chase scene in The Man with the Golden Gun with Roger Moore as James Bond was filmed at the market, and the 2008 film Bangkok Dangerous starring Nicolas Cage includes a scene that takes place at the market.
Samphran Elephant Ground and Crocodile Farm has been established since 1885. This place is the breeding farm of many types of crocodile, especially those endangered typed. It is also served as elephant village where many stray elephants are adopted, fed and trained for show.
Crocodile catcher show starts at 12:45, 14:20 and 16:20 (Mon – Sat) and more extra rounds at 10:30, 12:05, 16:05 and 16:20 on Sunday. Magic Show starts at 13:15 and 15:00 (Mon-Sat) and an extra round at 11:00 on Sunday. Elephant show with sound effect starts at 13:45, 15:30 (Mon-Sat) and an extra round at 11:30 on Sunday. Elephant Ride is available from Mon-Sat from 9:00-13:00 and on Sunday from 09:00-11:00.
Every type of crocodiles are in the 6-meter deep ponds for the crocodile of different ages and types. There are freshwater and saltwater crocodiles of ages 8-20. The oldest crocodile is 70 years old. You can also find ponds for disabled crocodiles and false gharials. Here you can learn more about the life cycle of crocodile. Every pond is made of cement to prevent the crocodile from digging the bottom to flee. The crocodile catcher show is held at a shallow pond. You can also enjoy the magic show and elephant show.
Education Park is in front of the orchid farm. There are exhibition boards about life cycle of crocodile, elephant and orchid. Moreover, tourists can enjoy the orchid farm on the area of 5 rai of which highlight is Cattleya Orchid.
Besides the elephants and the crocodiles, tourists can enjoy freshwater fish, playground, relax under the shade of banyan trees or visit newborn elephants and feed the elephants. The park also offers a mini-zoo where you can find snakes, monkeys, gibbons, rabbits, peacocks and tigers. There are also many facilities provided e.g. seminar center, Thai restaurant, food and snack stall. The park always celebrates the Children’s Day and provide buffet for the elephants on May Day.
Right next to Nakhon Chaisi River, the Rose Garden occupies an area of 137.5 rais or about 55 acres and it is utterly blossomed by multitude of beautiful floral. Visitors are stirred by gracious Thai-style houses and a daily, afternoon Thai cultural show. Besides, some parts of the area are hotel, lodges, and golf course.
